
FREE Adult English Language Learner Class
English Language Learner (ELL) class is for individuals whose first language is not English. Training is designed to help participants learn English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. HVAE offers FREE in person classes, online classes, one on one tutors and an open classroom to help learners work on their English skills.
Our in person class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00PM at the Red Wing High School has been canceled for February.
The open classroom is a drop-in English class called ELL Open Hours. This class is currently being offered in person on Thursdays from 9:30AM – 12:30PM and online Tuesdays from 1:00 – 3:00PM. It is an opportunity to improve your English with a tutor in small groups or one to one. We always have a Spanish bilingual tutor available and welcome beginners.
The Online Synchronous class is for students who have tested into ELL levels 3 - 6. Students will need technology skills and access to technology to attend this class.

There are also online programs for students to use to improve their language skills.
You must be at least 17 years of age to attend the classes and not enrolled in high school. Classes are free!

The first step to joining ELL class is to complete the registration form. Click on the link below and complete the form. HVAE staff will contact you once you have submitted the form. The form can be translated to Spanish on a computer by right clicking on the form and choose translate to espanol.
